MISSION & HISTORY.
Ajuma Foundation was founded by Ajuma Nasanyana, an international model born in Turkana, Kenya. She has graced many fashion shows across the globe, featured in editorial work and advertising campaigns. Ajuma has endorsed top fashion designers as well as cosmetic brands making her Kenya’s first supermodel, Akin to Sudan’s Alek Wek and Ethiopia’s Iman. With the level of success and visibility she has been able to attain, Ajuma is chose to use her position to give back to her community.
Together with a group of like-minded women, The Ajuma Foundation focuses on empowerment of Girls and Women with a focus on rural Kenya as well as pastoralist and vulnerable communities. We seek to provide opportunities for women to access the resources and protections they need to change their lives for the better.
The Ajuma Foundation works with various implementing and corporate partners to achieve its main missions. We also receive funds from both donor organisations and individual supporters from across the globe to continue with our work.
